Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Advokacy ("Advokacy", "we", "us"), available at advokacy.in, together with every feature offered through it — Ask Advokacy, Document Intelligence, the Drafting Studio, the Cause List, Live Courts, and your Library & Case Diary (together, the "Service").
By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. Our Privacy Policy and Refund & Cancellation Policy form part of these Terms.
2. What Advokacy is — and is not
Advokacy is a legal research assistant. It is not a law firm, it is not an advocate, and nothing it produces is legal advice. Using the Service does not create an advocate–client relationship between you and Advokacy, and nothing you send us is protected by privilege by reason of having been sent to us.
The Service surfaces judgments, statutory material and analysis to support your own professional judgement. Responsibility for every filing, submission, advice and citation remains entirely yours.
3. Your duty to verify
Advokacy retrieves authorities from legal sources and checks them before they reach you, and tells you when something could not be verified rather than inventing it. That is a safeguard; it is not a guarantee.
You must independently verify every authority, citation, paragraph reference, statutory provision and listing before relying on it — against the court's own record, the official reporter, or the court's own cause list or display board. AI systems can err, sources can be stale, and a judgment good law yesterday may be overruled today. Do not file, cite or advise on anything from the Service that you have not checked yourself.
4. Who may use the Service
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract under the Indian Contract Act, 1872. Some features need an account; you are responsible for your credentials and for everything done through your account. Tell us promptly at pssr.legal@gmail.com if you believe it has been used without your authority.
One account is for one person. Do not share credentials; if your firm or chambers needs several people on the Service, each needs their own account.
5. Your documents and your matters
You keep all rights in the documents you upload and the matters you record ("Your Content"). You grant us only the licence needed to run the Service for you: to store, process, extract text from and analyse Your Content so we can return a result to you.
You confirm you are entitled to upload Your Content and that doing so breaches no duty of confidence, court order, or restriction binding on you. Do not upload material you are not permitted to disclose to a third-party processor, or anything sealed or subject to an in-camera direction or reporting restriction.
How long we keep it, and who processes it, is set out in the Privacy Policy.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- scrape, crawl, bulk-export or systematically harvest the Service or anything it returns;
- resell, sublicense or offer the Service to others as your own;
- use it to build or train a competing model or dataset;
- work around any limit, quota, rate limit or access control;
- upload malware, or anything unlawful or infringing;
- present output as the work of a court, a judge, a registry or an advocate; or
- use it in any way that breaches the Advocates Act, 1961, the Bar Council of India Rules, or the rules of any court or bar body that bind you.
We may suspend or end access that breaches this clause, with notice where practicable.
7. Intellectual property
The Service, its software, interface, prompts, design and brand are ours or our licensors'. These Terms grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service, and nothing more.
Judgments, statutes and other public legal material are not ours and we claim no rights in them. Material retrieved from third-party legal sources remains subject to their own terms.
8. Beta, availability and changes
The Service is in beta. Features may change, break, or be withdrawn, and some depend on third parties (legal-source providers, courts' own websites, AI providers) whose availability we do not control.
We give no guarantee of uptime, of continuous availability, or that any particular court, tribunal, cause list or judgment is covered. We may change or discontinue any part of the Service. We will give reasonable notice of a material change where we can.
9. No warranty
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, currency or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that output is accurate, complete or current, that every relevant authority has been found, that an authority shown is still good law, or that any listing or hearing date is correct. See clause 3.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, or for loss of profit, revenue, goodwill, data, or business — including any loss arising from a missed limitation period, a missed hearing, an adverse order, a costs order, professional censure, or reliance on an unverified authority.
Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the three months before the claim arose, or (b) ₹1,000.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
11. Indemnity
You will indemnify and hold us harmless against claims, losses, liabilities and reasonable legal costs arising from your use of the Service, Your Content, your breach of these Terms, or your breach of any duty owed to a client, a court or a bar body.
12. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service and ask us to delete your account at any time, as set out in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate access where you breach these Terms, where we must to comply with law, or where continuing would expose us or other users to risk.
Clauses 2, 3, 7, 9, 10, 11 and 14 survive termination.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Subject to the next paragraph, the courts at [CITY — to be completed] have exclusive jurisdiction.
Operator note: name the seat before launch. It should be the place of your registered office or principal place of business; an unnamed or mismatched forum clause is the first thing a counterparty will test.
Before commencing proceedings, both of us will try in good faith to resolve the dispute by writing to the address in clause 14.
14. Changes, grievances and contact
We may amend these Terms. The "last updated" date on this page changes when we do, and material changes will be notified in the product. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the amended Terms.
